Adjustments To My Work-Life Balance

I work at a web design company, doing user experience design. Then I write blog posts about that same stuff during my (very limited) spare time. This is rather overwhelming when you consider the number and variety of other hobbies and interests that I have. Therefore, I have concluded that in order to optimize my work-life balance, reduce my stress levels, and get the most satisfaction out of my spare time away from work, I will not be committing myself to blogging on a regular basis anymore, ever.

Here’s the deal, in bullet-point format, for brevity’s sake:

  • I’m not going to be posting on other blogs, because it feels too much like work, even in spite of its benefits.
  • I’ll not be posting regularly on Locus of Control, because self-imposed deadlines are the worst kind.
  • I’ll still make the monthly maze wallpapers through to the end of the year, because my OCD would never let me leave the series incomplete.
  • I’m going to be making a shop on etsy.com. Follow me on Twitter for more info in the coming months.
  • I will post on Locus of Control when I have something to say about web design or user experience, but I’m not going looking for topics, because research isn’t fun.
  • Stay tuned to my tweets and RSS feed if you don’t want to miss future posts, since checking back regularly for posts that don’t appear regularly would be rather silly of you.
  • I’ll respond to comments on any existing Locus of Control posts within a reasonable amount of time (like a business day or something).
  • I think I’m going to get more serious about Twitter, now that I’ll have time to actually pay attention to it. Serious as in, not every single tweet is going to link to a blog post here.

If anyone has questions about the reasoning behind all of this, feel free to comment. It’s rather philosophical, actually.

So, how does one follow you on Twitter? I’ve combed your site and have been unable to find your Twitter handle, or a link to follow.

Enjoyed the card sorting post, and the ITSO link (ironically, the ITSO post mentioned “what’s missing” from the configurator—add to cart—and that’s what this reply is saying—you need a Follow Me on Twitter link).

How embarrassing! You’re totally right! The original plan was that this site’s about section would link back to my main site, forestninja.net, where there would be all that social networking and other info. But I haven’t got around to redesign that site yet, so it doesn’t have it. I will therefore fix this situation immediately. Good heavens I feel stupid.
