autotracer.org is another online service for image vectorization. The results are not as good as those from Vector Magic, but therefore it is free.

Thanks for the detailed information. I am a web guy that uses Photoshop exclusively and have no real Illustrator knowledge. The vector magic program is what I needed for the random projects that I have consistently had to reach out to someone else to do.

You can also use Inkscape’s “Trace Bitmap” feature. Inkscape is free and open source, unlike some of the other programs mentioned here.
