BackType - Keep Track of Your Comments Across the Web

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have a nice, consolidated feed of all the comments you’ve made on other people’s blogs? BackType gives you this for free, and it’s really easy to use. In addition to the RSS feed, you can also use BackType to:

  • Manage your feed and remove specific comments if desired.
  • Follow other users who share your interests.
  • Search comments for topics of interest.
  • Set up alerts for when comments are posted about you or any search terms you provide.
  • Put a widget on your website or blog to share your comment feed with anyone.
  • Subscribe to blog posts on the web and let BackType notify you when someone comments.
  • Include comments from Digg, FriendFeed & other social sites in your comment feed as desired.

When I first started using BackType, it didn’t find my comments on a certain site. I emailed support and within the same day they responded – they’d added that particular blog to their list and my feed now included those comments. Their fast response outside the bounds of their website really gave me a sense that BackType is serious about providing a good user experience from every angle. That’s something we don’t see quite as often as we should. ;-)

Once I get around to actually post a few more comments on other user experience blogs, I’ll probably add a BackType widget to Locus of Control. It seems like a great way to showcase interesting discussions elsewhere on the web. Feel free to comment on this post if you have questions about how to start using this tool.

If you’re already using BackType or a similar tool, what features do you find most useful and where on the web have you shared your comment feed?

Cool, yeah I still haven’t gotten much time to try it out, even to this day. But definitely a great looking application. :)
