Five Ways to Create Online Forms & Surveys Without Code

As a compliment to my recent post about form design, here are 5 free WYSIWYG editors for building online forms and surveys. I’ve also included screen shots of each form builder interface so you don’t have to sign up for anything to compare them.

Wufoo Form Builder Screen Shot

Wufoo – Lets you adjust label positioning on form fields (as discussed in the aforementioned past entry). It also has highly customizable template designs. This one seemed easiest to use in terms of the user interface on the form builder, at least in my opinion.

Icebrrg Form Builder Screen Shot Icebrrg – Also has a nice clean interface. As far as I know, it doesn’t have templates or custom designs. This seems to be because it’s meant to work with LightCMS and integrate with whatever design you may be using there.

JotForm Interface Screen Shot JotForm – Gives you the best deal for your zero dollars. In other words, you can generate unlimited forms with the free version, while other services require payment for this feature.

FormSpring Interface Screen Shot FormSpring – Forces a stepped process of form creation, which makes the interface a bit more frustrating. It does, however, have some nice options including alternative label placement and multi-column layouts.

Questionform Interface Screen Shot Questionform – Meant more specifically for surveys, this includes a wider variety of fields and form elements including a star rating field, maps and videos. It also allows multi-page forms.

Have you used any of these form builders before? What was your experience like? Have you found or used a different online form building application?

Hi Georgia, Thanks for this list. I have only so far used Survey Monkey. Are all these tools free or do we have to pay? Thanks.

They all have a free version, and then you can pay for additional features if you need them.
