Snippage: Make Desktop Widgets From Any Site

Snippage - Custom Desktop Widgets

Want to read someone’s tweets without actually following them on Twitter? Or perhaps you’d like to put a stock ticker or eBay listing on your desktop where you can keep an eye on it? Snippage let’s you create desktop widgets which display small portions of any website and refresh automatically every few minutes. They’re similar to iFrames, which we learned about in last week’s iGoogle tutorial. I’m sure you can come up with lots more creative ways to use this nifty little app. ;-)

In order to use Snippage, you need to download Adobe AIR. It will open up a whole new world of interesting tools you can download. Found a better application that works like Snippage? Thought of a neat way to use Snippage or something like it? Found some cool AIR applications? Please comment and share!

Yeah, seems pretty similar. Adobe Air runs like crap on Macs because flash runs like crap on OS X. You’re much better off creating a web widget if you’re on a Mac. This program sounds cool though… for windows users ;)

Someday I’ll have the money for a Mac, and then this blog will shift focus as I learn how to use the new system and whatnot. It’ll be fun :)
