Here’s just a few of the awesome things you can do with Awesome Highlighter:
- Highlight with multiple colors and add annotations on websites.
- Tag your highlighted pages to your heart’s content.
- View your saved pages and edit the highlights, notes and tags.
- Easily share with a hyperlink, or send your pages to Twitter and Delicious.
- Remind yourself and others why the octopus is one of the most amazing creatures on Earth.
They’ve got a bookmarklet and a Firefox plugin, so when you’re surfing the web you can just yell, “ACTIVATE AWESOME HIGHLIGHTER” (and click the shortcut…but be sure to yell that anyway) and voilà! You’ll be on your way to awesomely highlighting the most awesome pages ever! And, rumor has it, they’re working on developing a social aspect of the service. I signed up for the beta of that, so we’ll see how it goes.
A couple things to look out for: browser compatibility isn’t perfect, and notes don’t stay where you put them relative to text you may have highlighted (you might have to color code it or something). Feel free to post comments if you’ve found a similar tool that you think works even better!

I always liked the idea of things like that, but had issues finding one that would work. It is quite useful if you want someone to see a bit of text specifically on a website, but don’t want to just forward that text out of context
