This is a casual contest that anyone can enter and is judged purely by subjective methods. What good is that, you may ask? Consider that your website is constantly judged by such methods every time you get a visitor. It may not be scientific, but if you win, it will make you feel good. And who doesn’t like feeling good?
To nominate your own website or any site you think is an example of exceptionally good design, simply comment on this post with the following information:

The Wiire Staff has put together a pretty awesome fourth version of their Wii News website. The focus is on both the popular Nintendo Console and building a community of players, readers and fans.

I don’t think it’s an award winning site, for design anyway ;) All I want it to do is just blend into the background and feature the content.
I’m more curious to see what you would do with it, what tweaks you would make, or would you just toss it out and start over?
Don’t worry I can take criticism.
If you’re looking for feedback, I will say that I think your site accomplishes its goals just fine.
If I could improve upon it, I would suggest finding some kind of script that causes the featured photo to display at the maximum size possible, without running off the screen horizontally or vertically. This would account for screen resolution, browser window resizing, etc., for any user. It would also probably make it work well on mobile devices too.
Too bad I have no idea how to do something like that right now.
awesome, thanks, snd if you ever run across a script like that, and works on embedded images, let me know.

why that one? it is simple, easy to use, unagitated. the colors are comfy to the eye. it reminds me in a … book maybe, one i loved to read in. thus it looks a bit battered.
… and the automatic avatar-pics are cool
Those are just a built-in wordpress feature now-a-days. They remind me of a kaleidoscope.
right. a kaleidoscope is also what came into my mind. and also a bit in the automated, light sensitive facade in http://tinyurl.com/9gfhqd
Well it’s just a free wordpress theme designed by this guy: http://michael.tyson.id.au/wordpress
Hopefully you’ll like whatever I design just as much, when ever I get around to it. (May be quite a while
lol)
Well, the submission deadline has arrived, so any posts after this one won’t be counted for December’s design spotlight. If you have an idea, save it for January’s contest
Voting will begin this friday!
Voting has now begun! You can vote for your favorite site at the top of the right-hand column on this page. Tell all your friends to vote too!
I included all the nominations in the final voting this time rather than choosing finalists, since there were only 6 submissions (unless I blatantly overlooked something, which is always possible).
So please vote!
